While there are many legitimate causes of global hunger, a global shortage of food is not one of them. Organizations such as the UN’s World Food Program have proven that the world already produces enough food to feed up to 10 billion people (which will be the expected global population by 2050). Food production continues to increase faster than population growth. However, as many as 811 million people faced hunger in 2020.
