Title

The facts of fake news: A research review

Summary

The article reviews scholarly research on fake news, focusing on its definition, causes, and impacts. The article defines fake news as misleading content that masquerades as real news and underscores that although only a small fraction of people are exposed to fake news, its consequences can be far-reaching. The study indicates that cognitive biases and partisanship are key factors that contribute to an individual’s susceptibility to fake news. Additionally, the study finds that fact-checking, while helpful, is not always effective in correcting misinformation.
