Title

Raising climate literacy through addressing misinformation: Case studies in agnotology‐based learning

Summary

This paper examines agnotology, the study of ignorance and misconceptions, and its use in improving climate literacy through refutational lessons which are educational materials designed to directly counter and correct specific misconceptions or misinformation. It presents three case studies: two in educational settings (a community college and a university) and one in public outreach targeting climate misconceptions via media. The findings reveal that refutational texts are effective in reducing misperceptions and enhancing climate understanding.
