This research investigates the dissemination of conspiracy theories, like the notion that chemtrails contribute to global warming or vaccines cause autism, on the internet despite the assertion of collective intelligence. By analyzing data from 1.2 million Italian Facebook users, the study reveals that both scientific and conspiracist news are consumed at an equal rate. Additionally, the research assesses the impact of satirical and debunking content on users who are divided by conspiracy theories.
