Title

Beyond false balance: How interpretive journalism shapes media coverage of climate change

Summary

This study examines how transnational media frames climate change as a human-induced risk and manages contrarian views. It reveals that journalism has shifted from a balanced approach to a more interpretive style, with contrarian voices being quoted but often dismissed. Despite this, the focus on the ‘warners vs. deniers’ (two opposing viewpoints within the broader climate change debate.) narrative persists, overshadowing more substantive climate debates.
