This research examines how Mexican banks use the Ministry of Agriculture’s Twitter updates to inform their agricultural lending decisions. Interviews with 14 agricultural loan administrators revealed that Twitter provided real-time, specific crop forecasts, saving time and improving decision-making. By utilizing these updates, banks could expedite loan processes, helping farmers secure funds more quickly to support food production and combat food insecurity.
