This research investigates how Facebook groups can aid urban rooftop gardeners by filling an existing information gap. Utilizing the Theory of Virtual Community Practice, the investigation examined communication patterns in two Facebook groups, identifying six primary behaviors: outreach support, crowdsourcing, knowledge dissemination, community involvement, collaboration, and popularity/promotion. These behaviors enhance community engagement, interaction, and outcomes, allowing rooftop gardeners to network, exchange experiences, and obtain crucial information. The research underscores the capacity of social media platforms to address the extension service gap and mitigate the information deficit experienced by urban rooftop gardeners.
