This paper explores how digitalization in agriculture can reshape agricultural policy to better address sustainability challenges. It introduces an analytical framework that examines how digital tools could enhance the design and effectiveness of agricultural policy instruments, such as through improved spatial targeting, data-driven policy learning, and results-based subsidies. While digital technologies offer opportunities for more efficient and information-based governance, institutional constraints and stakeholder capabilities are significant factors that need careful consideration for effective policy adaptation in a European context.
