Summary

This article examines the role of the Information Society in reshaping rural areas with a focus on the EU’s experience. It explores how technological advancements, such as better access to information and infrastructure lessens the influence of distance from primary markets and enhance rural learning potentials. The paper stresses the necessity for a well-balanced policy approach that acknowledges both technological and social aspects to completely harness the benefits of new technologies in rural settings.
