Title

The use of critical thinking to identify fake news: a systematic literature review

Summary

Given the vast amount of information available online and many tools and studies that focus on detecting fake news, there is limited research on using information literacy, especially critical thinking, to evaluate news credibility.  The study’s primary objective is to emphasize the need to assess the credibility of online news. The authors conducted a thorough review of the literature to investigate the use of critical thinking in identifying fake news and found that while information literacy is mentioned, only a few studies explicitly address critical thinking. It further stresses the importance of critical thinking in spotting fake news and recommends incorporating information literacy into academic curricula to develop this skill.
