This paper explores the concept of “information disorder,” distinguishing between three types: disinformation (false information deliberately created to harm), misinformation (false information not made with harmful intent), and malinformation (accurate information used to cause harm). It highlights the need to understand the various stages and stakeholders involved in generating, producing, and disseminating these types of information to research and address this complex problem of information disorder.
