Primed for Accuracy: A Cognitive Approach to Fighting Misinformation on Twitter.

Summary

Current research indicates that prompting users to focus on accuracy improves the quality of news they share online. An extensive survey experiment on COVID-19 headlines shows that various accuracy prompts can successfully enhance sharing discernment across diverse demographic groups while preserving user autonomy. This study helps to develop practical interventions for improving the quality of online news sharing.
