Title

Reconceptualising critical digital literacy.

Summary

This paper argues that the concept of “critical digital literacy” should to be reconsidered due to the evolving digital practices of young people. It contrasts traditional approaches focused on critically consuming digital content with newer approaches emphasizing digital production, identifying three challenges to maintaining the relevance of critical digital literacy. The paper concludes by proposing a “critical digital design” model that integrates critical literacy with design-based literacy, offering a framework to address these challenges.
