Title

Contrasting the Spread of Misinformation in Online Social Networks

Summary

This study focuses on the difficulties associated with the spread of false information through online social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, which are not only significant sources of news but also contribute to the rapid propagation of inaccurate or untrue stories. The research highlights two key issues: detecting the sources of misinformation and limiting its dissemination. It presents guidelines for recognizing the most likely sources of misinformation and setting up monitors in important network locations to prevent the spread of false information. Trials conducted on real-world networks have demonstrated the effectiveness of these guidelines.
