Summary

This study reviews the growing body of interdisciplinary literature on conspiracy theories, addressing three key questions. It examines the psychological, political, and social factors that contribute to conspiracy beliefs, exploring how these theories are communicated through traditional and social media. It assesses the societal risks and rewards associated with them, particularly in politics and science. The study concludes by highlighting promising directions for future research in understanding and addressing conspiracy theories.
