Title

Summary

The pandemic has heightened the role of digital and social media in shaping our social experiences, revealing the paradoxes of digital life. On one side, platforms like Facebook and Google exploit data and reshape digital infrastructures in ways that promote surveillance capitalism while regulatory bodies struggle to keep up. These platforms also build social connection and civic engagement, creating a complex dynamic where social media is both exploitative and emancipatory, profoundly personal yet public, and essential to understanding everyday life.
