There is no point to carbon pricing if governments rebate the revenues

Fact

Rebates help with affordability, but they don’t change the incentive the price provides to pollute less.

• Reducing pollution means saving money. The more you cut your emissions, the less carbon price you pay. You get the same rebate no matter what.
The federal rebate will cover the direct carbon costs for 80% of households (and total costs for 70%).
